The ongoing war of words between Binance’s Changpeng Zhao (CZ) and Bitcoin SV founder, Craig Wright has really hotted up this week. The latest shot fired came from Wright, who called Binance a ‘Money-Laundering Bucketshop’.
In an interview with Finder, Wright, who had previously claimed to be Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto, laid into Binance in a ferocious attack. He said:
“You have things like CZ (Changpeng Zhao, Binance CEO) there and Binance which is super bucket shop which is basically money laundering organizations. They wash trades and money laundering. That’s how they make money.”
The scathing attacks didn’t stop there, as according to reports, the Bitcoin SV founder claimed Binance practiced market manipulation by pumping the prices of cryptocurrencies with ‘pre-announcement stuff’ before shorting.
It is clear that Wright has an issue with Binance and CZ, which could stem from CZ’s decision to delist Bitcoin SV this month. On top of that, the Binance CEO has been a vocal critic and doubter over Wright’s claim to be Nakamoto. In a surprisingly forthright tweet, CZ dismissed the claim:
Yet Wright knocked back these reactions from CZ, saying that his company was only delisted because ‘they want to shut me up’ and went on to set out his theories about the criminal activities that Binance and other exchanges take part in:
“What these guys do is they take money from around the world and they pump it through their system and back out through Tether, which is also a criminal money laundering system so that it gets lost in the banking industry… So that’s what things like Binance are really about. Then they can link them to others like Kraken and get them into a semi-legitimate one. Or others like Shapeshift.”
Coincidentally, all those exchanges that Wright spoke of had delisted his token which may have prompted this tirade. Whatever the case may be, it will be interesting to see how this beef develops…
