Genopets is an upcoming generative move-to-earn MMO-RPG NFT game based on the Solana blockchain that requires physical activities to enable players to earn tokens and advance in the game.

Non-fungible token (NFT) games are one of the revolutionary trends that rose this year as the technology gave gamers an opportunity to own, sell, and trade digital assets that can generate money they can spend not only in games but also in the real world. However, NFT games are not yet accessible to the majority of people because of their high-entry barrier and complexity, but one NFT game attempts to connect with the broad gaming market.

Background

Genopets takes inspiration from Axie Infinity due to its record-breaking success, but its team believes that it carries significant limitations that might soon affect the booming NFT gaming industry. First is the continuously rising cost of participating in the game, and second is the game economy overdependence on user growth.

Genopets aims to spread opportunities to more players and create a real sustainable ecosystem by eliminating these two major problems.

What is Genopets?

Genopets is an upcoming generative move-to-earn MMO-RPG NFT game based on the Solana blockchain that requires physical activities to enable players to earn tokens and advance in the game. It uses data generated from wearable devices to assess players’ progress and convert them as incentives in the game. These incentives provide players with opportunities to nurture, customize, and upgrade their virtual characters.

Genopets is both a free and paid game, which means that any interested players can try it for free and can earn in the process, but if they want to accelerate their progress, they must purchase a Genopets home called ‘Habitat,’ which can increase their earnings.

Genopets caters to both crypto and non-crypto players, which makes it ideal for those who don’t have any experience in NFT games. Interested players can sign up on a waitlist on this link to be one of the first to test the game’s Public Beta version when it’s released.

Major Elements in Genopets

  1. Genopets

Genopets, which players can mint for free, will be the gamers’ NFTs that can progress through evolution, customization, and improve the characters’ battle performance and physical appearance.

  1. XP

Players can generate XP, or experiences, through grinding activities. When they’ve reached the required amount of these assets, they can use them to upgrade their creatures. The beauty of upgrading a Genopet, aside from having a greater chance of winning a battle, is that they become more attractive when players put them up on the marketplace.

  1. Gene Token

A gene token is a fungible governance and staking token representing ownership in the Genopets ecosystem, allowing holders to vote for critical decisions.

  1. KI Token

KI token is a fungible in-game reward token that can fast track Genopets’ evolution, and players can generate it when they purchase a Habitat.

  1. Refined Crystals

Players can create refined crystals using Gene toke, KI token, and Habitat Lab. Each form of these crystals has a specific role that directly affects a Genopet’s evolution and the player’s gameplay.

  1. Habitat

Habitat is a non-fungible token that players can purchase or create using GENE, KI, and Crystals. It enables players to help their Genopets continuously live and evolve, create GENE Crystals, and earn KI tokens.

Another interesting utility of Habitat is that players can lease it on other gamers to earn additional revenue while helping them in the process.

Players must also know that if a Habitat wouldn’t receive any proper maintenance from them, its performance can diminish and would stop generating KI Tokens. With this risk, players must periodically maintain it through the use of crystals. Each Habitat can only accommodate one creature at a time.

Benefits for Free and Paying Players

Free Players

Even if players can enter the game for free, they can still earn revenues by providing their Genopets with “sweat equity” by completing physical activities.

Free players’ revenue will depend on their dedication and consistency, and once they have invested enough time and effort, they can finally profit from their Genopets.

Players can sell their Genopets right away on the marketplace or may choose to wait longer to allow their creatures to accumulate more rare traits, which can increase their selling price.

Paying Players

If free players want to fast-track their progress in the game, they can buy a Habitat that will enable them to increase the value of their Genopets and earn KI tokens and XP. Additionally, players can generate income from the sale of Gene Crystals and even from the sale of Habitats.

The Habitat serves as a smooth transition between the free and paid side of the Genopets NFT game, and as free players become paid players, the marketplace can further expand as they will certainly sell their own Genopets soon.

The sale of these creatures is beneficial not only for sellers but also for buyers, as they can progress faster in the game.

5 Types of Genopets NFTs

Genopet NFT

Genopet NFT is the first asset that free players will acquire in the game that comes in the form of an infant creature that can go through 77 levels of upgrades and 12 stages of material evolution. A Genopet’s progress will largely depend on the player’s performance.

Genopets evolve by acquiring XP gains, participating in PvE bosses, winning battles against opponents, and above all, participating in physical activities of their “masters.”

Augment NFT

Augment NFT is a generative accessory that players can use to improve their Genopets’ performance and aesthetics. Players can also customize their characters’ body parts since Genopets have robotic features.

The Augment assets that free players and Habitat owners can acquire from PvE battles will be different. Paid players can acquire NFT Augments, while free players will get non-NFT Augments, but with the same abilities.

With this, free players cannot sell or trade their Augments, and the only way to go through these transactions is if they buy a Habitat for their creatures.

Habitat NFT

To further describe the Habitat, which was already discussed in the ‘Major Elements of Genopets’ section, it resembles a 3D vivarium that helps Genopets grow. But this can only be possible if players can acquire type-specific unrefined crystals every day and unlock epic Augment NFTs.

Each wallet can hold up to three Habitat, and once players neglect the maintenance of this home, nanobots will start to appear, just like how pests show up on abandoned items or homes.

Nanobots’ primary duty is to halt crystal production, and their presence in the Habitat can cause severe problems for both players and their Genopets.

Refined Crystal NFT

Refined crystals serve as a building block of every item created inside the Genopets platform, starting from common NFTs to mystic ones.

These refined crystals are “alchemized” with the help of the unrefined crystals, and after this process, these crystals can finally produce all sorts of items and equipment.

Players can also use Refined Crystals to fast-track the evolution of their creatures, customize their aesthetics, change their elemental type, and even devolve them.

Economic Flywheel

Conclusion

Genopets’ exciting and entertaining gameplay, low entry-barrier, multiple ways of generating income, and fitness-driven mechanics will undoubtedly set it apart from other NFT games.

Also, it can potentially reach a broader gamer base as it is designed for both crypto game natives and non-crypto gamers who are yet to discover the benefits of NFT games.
