HTC, a leading consumer electronics manufacturer, is not relenting in its push to ease the way crypto enthusiasts engage with their digital wealth. The company has announced that its HTC Exodus blockchain smartphone (Exodus 1) will allow its user to exchange cryptos inside its in-built crypto wallet.

The capabilities will be enabled in conjunction with a platform specializing in token swapping, Kyber Network. However, the swapping functionality will be live for tokens built using Ethereum ERC20 standard. The tokens include DAI, a stablecoin, BAT, and Kyber’s native token, KNC.

With these functionalities embedded inside the blockchain smartphone, users will not have to transfer their coins to an exchange to swap or trade them with other coins using a similar standard.

Recently, High Tech Computer (HTC) announced that it is developing a smartphone (Exodus 1S) is capable of running a full Bitcoin node. Notably, to make the phone accessible, the company plans to release a budget-friendly option before the year ends.

As noted by HTC:

“Full nodes are the most important ingredient in the resilience of the Bitcoin network, and we have lowered the barrier to entry for any person to run a node,…participating in a global Bitcoin network that propagates transactions and blocks everywhere.”

Although HTC is seen as making headlines in its bold steps towards cryptocurrency, Samsung, another leading electronics company, is also making notable strides in the crypto world. For example, Samsung has included a crypto wallet on its Galaxy S10 smartphone.

Chae Won-cheol, senior MD, Product Strategy Team, Samsung, said:

“We will lower barriers to new experiences by gradually expanding the number of Galaxy models that support blockchain functions. We will also expand our service target countries after Korea, the United States, and Canada.”

Sirin Labs, a blockchain startup, is already in the race of blockchain-enabled smartphones. Generally, out of the current participants in this race, HTC seems to be having it all planned out.
