There is no Bitcoin without Satoshi Nakamoto. However, the person or entity making one of the most revolutionary technological breakthroughs has remained anonymous. The person or entity has chosen to hide behind a mask despite millions of individuals and institutions wanting to know their identity. Because of his/her/their anonymity, we have seen several people come out and claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the person behind Bitcoin. However, the crypto community has long known that Nakamoto has a unique digital print and a stash of Bitcoin in his wallet, the only two clues and true mark to prove who the real Satoshi Nakamoto is.

“I protected the identity of Satoshi” John McAfee

Out of all the people who have so far come out with the claim that they are Satoshi Nakamoto, but none has the private keys to his wallet. So, given this, it’s clear that the recent claim by Craig Wright is false.

A few weeks ago, Craig Wright–who is behind Bitcoin SV–claimed that he was Satoshi Nakamoto, something he has done several times in the past. However, this time he threatened to take legal action against those who refute the claim.

This has long turned into a feud with the likes of CZ Binance, John McAfee and other influential individuals in the crypto industry. It has further seen the delisting of Bitcoin SV on Binance exchange, Shapeshift, Kraken and Blockchain wallet.

During the feud and the social media battle between Craig Wright and those challenging his claim, one notable point has emerged, proving that several people might know the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. John McAfee, a controversial Bitcoin proponent, days ago tweeted that he knew the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto and had chosen to protect it.

So, Why Is It Important To Stay Hidden?

For starters, it could be as simple as, given that his Bitcoin wallet could be worth billions of dollars, he does not want the attention and rightfully so. He/she might not be curious or even

inclined towards becoming a celebrity as he is already wealthy preferring anonymity instead of all the clout, dependence and baggage of providing guidance or being a role model in a chain that is already self regulating and guided by law.

No doubt, Satoshi Nakamoto, when revealed, most definitely will be the most influential person in the crypto world. Today, the crypto community listens to the likes of Vitalik Buterin, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), Justin Sun, and Brian Armstrong just to mention a few. Their judgment or opinions mean everything to millions of crypto enthusiast. For example, when CZ Binance called out Craig Wright, thousands followed suit. So, how much influence would the opinion of the man behind Bitcoin have? He would have the power to make or break any project.

Though countless hours and resources will flow towards deciphering who Satoshi Nakamoto is—and the later would even try to cover his track or he may as well be deceased. Therefore, it might just be in everyone’s favor if he/she remained anonymous.
