Crypto world wakes up to a lot of negativity and skepticism each day so big names that propel the technology forward and spread a good word about it are refreshing. One such character is Jack Dorsey, the CEO of both Twitter and his most recent brainchild, Square. Jack took to his network recently, announcing that he is now ready to hire some crypto engineers for a full-time gig at Square.

He said that his payment startup required four such engineers and a designer. Square Crypto in a confirmation said:

“we are close to making our first hire. So, let us set some expectations. True to Jack’s founding tweets, we are building open source projects that will make mass adoption not just possible but inevitable. Our goal isn’t to make money, but to improve it.”

Contribution to Bitcoin Ecosystem

Jack has been an ardent supporter of Bitcoin said that he was inspired by Mike Brock to hire people to improve the crypto ecosystem and what he refers to “Bitcoin Twitter.” The CEO said that the venture that would cost him a rough annual estimate of $500,000 would make the crypto world better. The step resonates with him, and he was willing to do his own small part to see the ecosystem reach its full potential.

Dorsey also added that the lucky engineers and designer would report directly to him. They would also “work full time on open source contributions to the Bitcoin/ crypto ecosystem.” The plum job will allow the staff to work from anywhere and get their payment through Bitcoin.

The somewhat eccentric billionaire has been Bitcoin’s stand up hero amongst the Silicon Valley visionaries. He loves Bitcoin and has once said that “the internet deserves a native currency; it will have a native currency…. I don’t know if it will be Bitcoin or not. I hope it will be. I am a huge fan.”

Through Square’s Cash App, traders can sell or buy Bitcoin. The app’s users have multiplied, and the platform now trades over $166 million in Bitcoin transactions every quarter. Jack, however, says that the new team’s performance objectives are not geared towards profit making but rather towards giving back to the crypto community.

Square’s Interests Aside, Let’s Focus on Crypto

He added that the team being set up will not concentrate on Square’s interests rather than on free and open source work for all. He said that this was Square’s way of giving back to the community that has been key to its success. In the end, Dorsey says that he hopes his move and others like his will help create “a more accessible global financial system for the internet.”

Dorsey’s has stated that Bitcoin would make an exemplary internet currency. His move is perhaps his way of ushering in that idea to reality. The Twitter CEO has also said in the past that he will add the Lightning’s Network support into Square. This, many pundits believe will have a more significant impact on the crypto ecosystem than the long-awaited crypt backed ETFs.
